The Obsession Begins.

I was commissioned to create a full-size "art" horse for a public art project in Ocala, Florida in 2001. Inspired by Antoni Gaudi, I used found objects and broken tiles. I always wanted to do something bigger, more monumental ever since.
And Then She Rolled Into My Life.

Found the van at a buy-here-pay-here. It was the right van. SHE was the right van. As most girls do, I named her. Her name is LuLuBelle.
She was perfect for what my brain was formulating. Ford 250, V8. Without the 300-lb ladder rack, she should carry the weight. She would be just fine.

The back story is simple. I had wanted an art van for a while. I wanted the independence of driving a single vehicle to art shows. Something I could park easily, something I could unload and load without issues. Something that I could park in my driveway. A new van just wouldn't work. I needed something NOT pretty and NOT new. Because I wanted to mosaic a van.
