Things Have Taken A Slow Turn, But They're Turning
I've managed to start back up on the van, due to some freakishly good weather here in Florida. I had a bit of a slow start back to tiling, as I changed residences, buying a Florida Bungalow in Ormond By The Sea. So, things came to a screeching halt for a while. Because, it's a house built in 1956, and there are some things that needed to be done (and still do...but that's another whole website right there). I also met a man who put some broken bits of my heart back together, married him, toured Italy and Greece with my sister (my favorite traveling companion), so things have been a bit hectic. Now that I'm a full-time artist again, I'm finding more time in between doing my art festivals, getting my inventory up and keeping my sanity. I've added quite a bit of tumbled tiles to the back, added some more blues on the side, and filled in a little more on the Tiki side...I'm getting there. I am determined to finish LuLuBelle by the end of 2016. Call it a goal, although I'm not really very goal-oriented.
UPDATE: It's December, 2016. She's not going to be finished. I told you I wasn't good with goals.
The silicone I use has to be used at a certain temperature in order to adhere the tiles properly. And of course, we've had some monumental weeks with rain on a daily basis. But, whenever the sun is shining for a few hours, I walk the beach, and then come home to tile.
More photos soon. The back is almost complete, and I've managed to start working on the Mermaid again. I painted the bumpers black, and have to reapply paint to the roof. I'm thinking black for that as well, and I'll use One Shot, which is a sign painters paint. Wicked stuff, but should hold up better than most.
