What's This Broken Plate Doing On My Doorstep?
While most of my stash has been collected from thrift stores and yard sales, many people over time have given me broken bits and pieces, and this is treasure to me. I'm a beachcomber, after all. I find beauty in the broken shells, almost more so than the perfect ones. After all, as Anne Morrow Lindbergh so succinctly put it, "One cannot collect all the beautiful shells on the beach..."
I have so many more people to thank, and will start getting my photos together very soon.

Margie Thurman
Margie Thurman, from Flemingsburg, KY, always brought over tons of broken items to my studio when I lived there, because she owned antique shops. She brought over a Fostoria bowl and a bunch of chipped Blue Willow plates. Although some of them ended up on gourd birdhouses, I hauled my remaining boxes of broken bits back home to Florida, and now they are part of LuLuBelle's history.

Ken Macht
Ken Macht is an outstanding potter. The former mayer of Vero Beach, he met his beautiful artist wife, Kathleen, and they moved back to his home state of Kentucky, landing in Flemingsburg to open an art studio and gallery. They were my inspiration to move there and start an art gallery. They have moved back to Florida, at least part time. Potters are good people to know when you're a mosaic artist, because something invariably doesn't come out of the kiln in one piece, and that's where I come in.

LuLu Belle's Name
Back Double Doors
LuLu Belle has her name on the back doors, courtesy of a generous donation of black glass tiles (and some random pink and yellow glass tiles) from a steak restaurant in Orlando that my husband worked on. The tiles themselves had been ordered from Italy.

Paula Sparks
Paula Sparks is a textile artist that I met quite by chance and have become friends with. She and her husband have a beautiful second home in Maine, and they recently decided to renovate, breaking up lots of beautiful pink tiles! She brought me a small bag to use for LuLuBelle, and I'm tumbling them right now, so photo to follow when I get it adhered to the "tiki" side.

Noah Kirk
By another chance accident, I have come into possession of a broken piece of pottery by potter Noah Kirk of Tampa, whom I met at the Hobe Sound Festival of the Arts in February, 2017. Beautiful deep browns and blues, and I will be tumbling for LuLuBelle! History...
Kelly Williamson
Kelly Williamson, owner of Williamson Pottery, has a beautiful little "gallery" set-up when she exhibits at shows. I bought a small coaster from her in a beautiful ocean blue color, and she gave me a small heart-shaped trinket with the word "patience" on it. It will be placed on LuLuBelle as soon as it stops raining...thank you, Kelly.
